While this seems like a great solution to Earth's energy crisis, there is one major problem. There is currently no efficient type of reactor to process helium-3, and the funding required for research just is not available. With the correct funding, using helium-3 as a fuel on Earth could start in just 10 years time, but at the current rate of research, it could take up to 30 years or longer.
