The major problem with returning humans to the Moon is the lack of an atmosphere on the Moon. The lack of an atmosphere means that in the day, it can reach 100 °C in the day, and as low as -173°C at night. It also means that humans would need to take a source of oxygen to the Moon, or find a way of producing oxygen for breathing.
